Martin is immersed in the Spanish way of life having moved to Valencia with his Valencian wife in 2004. Building on his legal career in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Martin set out to complement his qualification as a solicitor by becoming dual qualified as an abogado. Having achieved this ambition, Martin is now an active member of the Valencian Bar; Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Valencia (www.icav.es).

Martin’s primary focus is attending to the wide range of needs of his international clients. He actively assists international clients from first contact right through to the conclusion of the matter in question – be it at the closing of a property purchase at the notary or guiding them through the Spanish court system to obtain a successful judgement.

When dealing with a matter on a client’s behalf, Martin brings into play his considerable experience as a skilled negotiator, litigator, property specialist and international private client lawyer.

Martin has been included for a number of years in the Lawyers list of the British Embassy of Spain and the lawyers list of the Irish Embassy of Spain.

Professional History:

Following the completion of his studies at University of Strathclyde, Martin was appointed as the first legal information officer to the JISC Legal Information Service (JISC Legal). This service provides legal assistance to Universities and colleges across the UK on all aspects of Information Communication Technologies and the law.

On return to his native Ireland, Martin joined Landwell Solicitors (correspondent law firm to PricewaterhouseCoopers PWC) in Dublin. In this role, Martin gained invaluable experience across a broad range of practice areas such as company law, commercial litigation, sector regulation and property law.

During this time in Dublin, Martin held the position of Auditor (president) of the Solicitors Apprentice Debating Society of Ireland (SADSI) and was subsequently appointed as a junior council member of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA).

Professional Qualifications:

Martin holds an honours law degree (LL.B.) and a Masters of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Information Technology and Telecommunications law.

In addition to maintaining his membership as a solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland he also holds membership as an abogado (Spanish lawyer) with Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Valencia (the Valencia Bar).

Move to Spain:

Martin moved to Valencia in 2004 with his wife who is a native of the city. Since then he has been advising overseas clients across a wide range issues and greatly enjoys meeting the challenges presented by International General Practice.
